Glen at the Bridge

Glen at the Bridge

The taxman has crossed the line
No doubt in anyone’s mind
A fascist ploy of there ever was one
A rising tide of oppression
Open your mouth and lose your house
“I hung a sword above his neck
And he like a serpent crept
Back to his gloomy depths”

Hold on Cow Shit!
Dis ent done!
Remember when the Kabaka sang, the Zombie Jamboree?
“Back to Back, Belly to Belly,
Ah don’t give a dam, ah done dead already”
We survived a real dictator
We ent ‘fraid no piss-pot Napoleon
I standing with the fourth estate
Joining Glen and Adam at the gate
Horatius , Lartius and Herminius of a modern age
Defending Guyana from tyranny
Ye like false Sextus
To be spat upon
And mocked for posterity
Cow Shit and his infamous plot
to become J Edgard taxing dictator

All the good work you did
To bring quality and structure
Undone by a petty nature
Naïve nepotism
Ignorant and arrogant reactions
A public servant who got carried away
Power drunk with the perks and pay
One last before you go
A free Camp Street holiday

As our country evolves
You join the list of cautionary tales
“Don’t try to be like Cow Shit, they will say
He tried to become a Bogey Man
Using the tax code to intimidate
Muzzle and emasculate
Instead he suffered a sad fate
A little footnote in our failed state”

So go Cow Shit
Into the good night
And be thankful you never succeeded
The sun and light have never been so bright
The masses gaze with open eyes
At a future your shortsighted clique
Would seek to blight
With petty evil and imagined might
it would have served you well to remember
"the Pen is ever mightier than the Sword"
